Ecuador
I have visited Ecuador three times. Most of the photos below are from the most recent trip, in February 2022.
A trip to the highlands near the Antisana volcano and the cloud forests around Mindo in 2022
"Tanager traffic lights" in the Mindo area comprising a summer tanager, a golden tanager and two glistening-green tanagers.
Unlike my two previous trips to Ecuador, this one was a designated wildlife photography tour. It was organized by Anders Blomdahl and Fågelguidning AB (tour operator). Our on-site guides were Supreet Sahoo and Magdalena Sánchez.
We visited a number of protected areas around Antisana and Papallacta. After a few days in the highlands, we spent a day in a private protected area near Quito called Reserva Zuro Loma before heading down to the cloud forests at slightly lower elevations on the western slopes of the Andes. Many, but obviously not all, of the photos below were taken in private nature reserves or near lodges with bird feeders.

Galápagos Islands and Amazonia in 2009
Here are a few images from a visit in 2009. After a few days in the Ecuadorian part of the upper Amazon rainforest areas, swimming with piranhas (and having some for dinner), most of the time was spent cruising in the Galápagos archipelago.
Inca ruins and Amazonia 2003-2004
I visited Café Colibri in 2004. Unfortunately it wasn't there, at least not in the same location, when I returned to Quito in 2009.
On my first trip to Ecuador, I visited some areas in the south including a few archaeological sites such as Ingapirca (the name, by the way, means "Inca walls").
I then hopped on a bus which took me down the eastern slope of the Andes without running off the road more than a single time (fortunately not on the wrong/steep side of the road; no-one was injured). After a few days at Cuyabeno Lodge in the Amazon rainforest, it was time to visit Quito, the capital. From there I made a daytrip to nearby Mindo and a place called Mindo Lindo where hummingbirds as well as other birds were attracted to feeders. Although I did take some photos of the hummingbirds, I won't bore you with them here because I got much better photos of the same species in the same area in 2022 (above).
