Pantanal and other areas

When the Swedish filmmaker Arne Sucksdorff in the 1960s made plans to study wildlife in the Amazon rainforest, he asked an ornithologist at Museu Nacional for advice on where to find the area with the most abundant wildlife. To his surprise, the recommendation was to go to Pantanal instead. It was not an area he had heard of before, but the Pantanal eventually became a place he would call his home. The Swedish title of his book about the Pantanal is "Ett hem på jorden", which translates to "A Home on Earth".

The photos below are from a trip to Brazil in October, 2019. Most of the time was spent in Pantanal, but we visited a few other regions as well.
